Product / Service Introduction

Cradle to Cradle design principles were developed by German professor Michael Braungart and American architect William McDonough in the 1990s. The principles describe the safe and potentially infinite circulation of materials and nutrients in cycles. The product standard based on these principles assesses products from five dimensions, including material health, product circularity, clean air & climate protection, water & soil stewardship, and social fairness. The use of Cradle to Cradle certified products will significantly contribute to the development of circular economy. Additionally, Cradle to Cradle certified products are also awarded points in major green and healthy building certifications such as LEED, WELL, and DGNB. As a pioneering European consultancy company, we provide solutions to help clients design and optimize their products according to the Cradle to Cradle. Our services include consulting in product, technology and process development according to Cradle to Cradle principles; detailed eco-and environmental toxicological evaluation of products and materials; Cradle to Cradle certification, material-specific supply chain management and so on. Through our services we aim to establish the Cradle to Cradle design principles for the circular economy in all industrial sectors, such as buildings, textiles, automotive, chemicals, packaging, consumer goods & cosmetics.

Explanation of Circular Economy Practice

Cradle to Cradle certification provides companies with a tool proving their successes and progress with regard to an environmentally intelligent design of their products. Besides, certification helps customers choose and purchase products that meet a broad, outstanding quality standard. Our Cradle to Cradle solutions guide the product development and practice circular economy from five dimensions:

  • Material Health. By selecting safe and healthy materials, it helps ensure products are made using chemicals that are as safe as possible for humans and the environment by leading designers and product developers through a process of assessing and optimizing material chemistries.

  • Product Circularity. Products are intentionally designed for their next use and are actively cycled in their intended cycling pathways.

  • Clean Air & Climate Protection. Product manufacturing results in a positive impact on air quality, the renewable energy supply, and the balance of climate changing greenhouse gases.

  • Water & Soil Stewardship. Water and soil are treated as precious and shared resources. Watersheds and soil ecosystems are protected, and clean water and healthy soils are available to people and all other organisms.

  • Social Fairness. It aims to design business operations that honor all people and natural systems affected by the manufacturing of a product.
