In 2020, Flender is committed to becoming CO2 neutral by 2030 based on reducing our Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions and carbon neutral on 2050. It is an integral part of Flender’s first CSR strategy pillar, “Sustainability”.
Natural Resources and Energy:
Energy Conversion and Utilization in Flender
As a manufacturing company, Flender has high demand of electricity, but reduce related carbon emissions by deploying renewable energy source and enhance energy efficiency. Since 2019, we have reduced carbon emissions by 17,686 ton /year through technology innovations such as updating the lighting system, establish heat recycle system, and use low-energy-consuming equipment. Photovoltaic power generation system on the roof generates 1,523 MWh/year, reducing carbon emissions by 1,347 ton. In addition, Flender is not only purchasing international green power certificates to offset carbon emissions, but is also planning larger-scale photovoltaic power generation projects and wind power generation projects to increase the proportion of renewable energy.
Prevention of Pollution:
Flender has a systematic management for wastes in the operation. Since 2019, waste classification has been implemented in office areas. Related trainings has been conducted and encourage employees to submit suggestions for further improvement.

Health and safety first @ Flender
At Flender, we see our employees as our most important asset. Safe jobs, avoiding accidents at work and promoting the health of our employees are our priority. Flender has established a comprehensive and effective EHS management system with a health and safety culture of "employee participation" and "mutual care".
Case 1: Set up EHS (Environment, Health and Saty) intranet. It covers EHS laws and regulations, trending news, safety moments, EHS performance and EHS training for employees to review and learn.
Case 2: Perform root-cause analysis for incidents occurred in the past 20 years and compile a handbook of FLC's safety cases, which are distributed to employees for learning.
Case 3: Flender held regular "Zero-Harm-Culture-Team-Award" and “Safety Month” to enhance the "Zero Harm Culture" and build a zero-harm fortress together.
Case 4: All employees can use the 3i ideas management system to document and report unsafe points and submit suggestions for improvement on the topic, which will be awarded and follow -up action will be taken until solved.

In Flender, we aims to build up a responsible supply chain with more transparency and accountability, make a valuable contribution to respecting and protecting human
rights and protecting the environment.
To achieve this goal, supplier assessment process includes two key requirements, signing Code of Conduct that committing to operating their businesses in a responsible and sustainable way, in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The 2nd one is complete a Corporate Responsibility Self Assessment, covering main topics of legal compliance and fair operating, human rights and labor, health and safety of employees and environmental management. In addition, Flender has initiated a Supplier Emissions Transparency Program initially focusing 80% of Flender Scope 3 carbon footprint, to obtain primary emission data and enlarge the coverage step by step. Related training has been conducted. In-person introduction has been conducted via supplier day in 2023.

Flender Business Conduct Guidelines (BCG) provides a binding guideline for employees, which includes, but not limited to, anti-corruption, anti-money laundering, anti-monopoly, privacy protection, export control, human rights and criminal misconduct.
Flender conducts regular compliance training for all employees on all aspects, as well as prescribing a code of conduct for business partners. We have a rigorous evaluation process for new suppliers— CRSA and require all suppliers to sign the CoC. Regular auditing are conducted to ensure the standards.

With the “sustainable development” as the strategic orientation, Flender has actively launched sustainable packaging design for our product portfolio. Under the principle of 4R1D (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Recover, Degradable), we have made continuous efforts to promote environment-friendly solutions featuring lightweight, low-carbon, environment-friendly and recycling. Flender has upgraded packaging materials from wooden boxes to cardboard boxes for light-weight products, from wooden pallets to iron pallets for heavy-weight products, reducing the consumption of wood and using recycling material. Flender keeps monitoring new technologies for packing and welcome packing innovation.
