SOCIAL CHALLENGES

Global warming is a world- wide issue. By implementing wastewater treatment projects to end water pollution, companies can contribute to the preservation of clean waters and green mountains for future generations. Waste- water treatment is at the core of environmental protection in any city. Adequate waste- water treatment is critical for the health, sanitation, and safety of humanity.

PROJECT APPROACH

Trolli Guangzhou Confectionery has worked closely with its partner vendors to upgrade wastewater treatment processes and enhance the processing capacity by installing new, high-efficiency equipment. This involved an in-depth technical consultation, measurements, verification, and discussion with different consulting companies and upgrading WWTP based on the presented professional solutions. The company cooperated with  Paques, a well-known international company specializing in professional sewage treatment. This partnership enabled the company to modernize processes and wastewater treatment procedures.

VALUE ADDED

As a result of these great efforts, the company has increased its capacity of wastewater  treatment from 2.25 tons COD per day to 9.5 tons COD per day. The company has been able to save 2,000 m3 natural gas consumption every day by using the 4,000 m3 biogas collected during the wastewater treatment process as fuel for the production boiler. The company was able to achieve two impressive results:

1.     Deep purification of sewage: COD ≤110mg/L; BOD≤30mg/L; TSS≤100mg/L; NH4+-N≤15mg/L; PH 6~9

2.      Energy saving: collect biogas 4,000 m3 /day, save natural gas 2,000 m3 /day.

LESSONS LEARNED

The project has been completed. The company gained valuable insights in both the project planning and implementation phases. First, the company greatly improved the processing capacity of the sewage plant, and can process increasingly large amounts of wastewater. Secondly, more useful energy is being collected and recycled from the production of the workshop (e.g., methane collected is used for the boiler to produce steam).

IDEAS FOR THE FUTURE

Trolli Guangzhou Confectionery will stick to the path of green and sustainable development. The company plans to spare no effort in exploring new energy-saving solutions to achieve the ultimate goal: zero waste.
