Awards Category:CSR

In May 2022, the ecological restoration and carbon sink project of giant panda habitat - Sichuan Shenguozhuang Infineon Giant Panda Habitat Restoration and Afforestation Project, supported by Infineon Technologies Greater China, was officially launched in the Shenguozhuang Nature Reserve in Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture of Sichuan Province, China. The project marks another step in the sustainable development of Infineon Technologies, a global leading semiconductor company from Germany. As the first project in a three-year biodiversity conservation partnership between Infineon Greater China and Beijing Entrepreneurs Environmental Foundation (SEE Foundation), the "Infineon Giant Panda Habitat Restoration and Afforestation Project in Shengozhuang, Sichuan" plans to plant 22,200 native tree species, mainly spruce and fir, to restore the giant panda habitat. The project is expected to increase the carbon sink by about 2,000 tons over a 30-year period, which is a positive demonstration of biodiversity conservation, carbon sequestration and carbon reduction.

The project was carried out during the pandemic. On the one hand, Infineon was doing its best to ensure the smooth running of the project, working with its partners to ensure the smooth planting of seedlings in the reserve area. At the same time, the company did its best to carry out internal communication activities to make its employees more aware of and involved in this corporate citizenship program, despite back-and-forth Work-From-Home and travel restrictions. For example, in October 2022, knowledge of the Giant Panda Habitat Restoration Project was widely disseminated among employees during the company's internal decarbonization event. Employees felt proud of the company's contribution in the field of ecological sustainability and panda habitat protection.
